Interested in Becoming an FMCC Youth Leader?
FMCC Youth Ministry is actively seeking dedicated Youth Leaders to serve and disciple our students. There are several things to consider before you step into a role such as this.
Are you available?
We meet every Wednesday from 6:30pm - 8pm and leaders are expected to arrive at 6pm and stay until 8:15pm.
Your regular attendance to our Sunday morning church service will play a crucial role as a Youth Leader
As a Youth Leader, you will seek at least one opportunity to connect with a student throughout the week. A simple text, email, or phone call.
Some events happen outside of a Wednesday night. While you wouldn’t be expected at all of them, your attendance is most helpful and your discipleship impact greatly increases.
Labor of Love
I encourage anyone who is interested in being a Youth Leader (or serving in any ministry for that matter) to sincerely pray about serving in this ministry. There will be plenty of reasons to give up, walk away, and get your Wednesday nights back, but remembering that God has called you to this ministry at a time such as this is what will keep you focused, engaged, and motivated to continue. It’s in these moments that I have seen the Lord do what only he can do in the lives of our students.
What You’ll Actually Do
The ultimate objective is to Disciple students who love God, love others, and make disciples. Here’s what a typical week would look like in the life of an FMCC Youth Leader:
Arrive on Wednesday nights at 6pm for a quick leader meeting and be ready to engage our students.
Spend quality time with students. Talking, playing games, etc. (Seeking natural opportunities to encourage, challenge, and equip your students)
Engage in worship and a lesson alongside your students.
Facilitate small group discussion and foster an open and vulnerable environment.
Spend more quality time with students and engage with parents during pick-up.
Engage with students throughout the week (text, email, or phone call).
Pursue and engage students on Sunday morning (A quick and easy check-point)
Repeat
